The Butterfly Garden

We’ve been fortunate enough that the previous owners loved the house, and loved gardening. They surrounded the entire home in a moat of flora, many of the flowers planted to attract butterflys and hummingbirds. This spring we trimmed and mulched everything and the perennials have been blooming all year, each week there is another species blossoming and this summer it has literally been humming with bees and butterflys. There are also a few herbs as well, there is a sage plant that came back this year that is ENORMOUS and a mint plant that is threatening to eat the house.

Throughout the year we’ve been photographing each blossom with the hope of eventually identifying them. Attached is a gallery of photos, if anyone knows the names of the different varieties please feel free to post a comment.
