Hickory dickory dock
I’m not sure how Amanda knows all this stuff, but a few weekends ago she picked up what appeared to me to me a small bruised apple and said she thought it was a hickory nut. After consulting our two tree guides we concluded it is a Shagbark Hickory and it’s nuts are tasty – another wonderfully unexpected bounty from the yard. I collected up a basket of fallen nuts and there look to be several more basketfulls still in the tree. I’ll post another report once we figure out how to eat these things.
